MyotherapyMeaning Muscle therapy, Myotherapy is a hands on approach to the soft tissues that make up the human body. It consists of assessment and treatment of muscular conditions with a specific and deep muscle focus. Myotherapy can consist of dry needling, cupping , ultrasound and massage therapy. Myotherapy can sometimes complement physiotherapy or pilates very nicely. Myotherapists are experts in the field of muscle and soft tissue (ligament, tendon, fascia) therapy. They focus their assessment on the palpation of different muscles to determine if there is a contribution from the myo (muscle) fascia (the thin sleeve of tissue that wraps around the muscle). For example, muscle spasm and tightness is very common in disc injuries, and can often refer pain into the leg. Myotherapists also utilize interventions such as massage, ultrasound, dry needling and cupping. Full or part body myotherapy available for back, neck, shoulders, legs, hamstrings, calves, gluteals, hip, quadriceps and more.
